1980 Volvo 242GT . This is an original southern California car in stock condition and is virtually rust free. I purchased this car from the second owner 2 years ago. He owned this car from 1984 to 2007. Car was garaged kept during that time and was professionally serviced for all repairs by the second owner. Service records and service manual will also be included. The body of this car is absolutely straight with no dents or dings whatsoever. A straighter body you will not find. Car also has a sunroof that does not leak. Paint is in fair to good condition, and was repainted once in 1986. Some small chips here and there. Interior of this car is in excellent condition with no tears or rips in the upholstery. The interior is Black with Orange stripes and was only available in the GT Car is equipped with the following and all are in working condition: 130 cu in (2.1L) 4 cylinder engine, 4 speed manual transmission with over drive. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Cruise Control, Air conditioning, Sunroof, AM-FM Sansui Cassette receiver, Leather wrapped steering wheel, Cloth upholstery. Car was repainted once in 1986. Car does not burn oil or smoke. Overall this car is in very good condition and was well cared for over the years.. Anyone looking for a vintage Volvo GT will not be disappointed.. The following is a partial list of recent repairs and parts: Less than 3000 miles since: Fuel injection service, Timing belt and pulley tensioner, Head Gasket and new bolts, Intake Gasket, Exhaust Gasket, Valves, Less than 5000 miles since:, O2 sensor, Ball joints, Rear brake calipers, pads, and rotors, 12000 miles on Yokohoma tires with 60000 mile warranty
The following are the know issues with this vehicle: 1” long crack in center of windshield, can be seen in photo, The only area of rust is underneath the rear tail lights and along the rear bumper strip, goes thru to trunk in spots and as can be seen in the photos. No other rust on car body, very rare for these cars. Driver side seat belt retractor does not work. Seat belt can still be used. 1 wheel is a lighter color than the others. Paint spot on roof is worn. Can be seen in photo. Car has a slightly rough idle, previous owner spent a lot of money to try to resolve this issue. Car still passes California’s strict emissions testing and runs great and pulls to the redline. There is a clunk in the right front on severe bumps only, maybe a strut. Speedometer intermittently stops working when interior of car is very hot. This is a common problem on old Volvo’s so actual mileage may be slightly higher. Speedometer reads slightly higher than actual speed. If speedo says 40 MPH, it’s actually closer to 35 MPH. Needs to be recalibrated. The bolster adjustment in the seat backs does not work. To sum it up, this is a great, solid, dependable, economical, and safe car that is ready to drive now.
Every thing on the to do list are mostly incidentals that do not affect the how the car runs. Car runs and drives great and has been very dependable for me these last 2 years. It is fun to drive and handles well.
